"You Have Arrived At A Propitious Moment - Afternoon Tea.
Being raised in Bermuda by a Welsh grandmother and mother, tea was always a big part of my day. After moving to America I found it very hard to find a good cup of tea. In restaurants coffee cups are filled to the brim with hot, steaming coffee and refilled without even asking, but ask for tea and it usually consists of tepid water, (very) weak tea bags and you even have to ask if you'd like a second cup! If you travel down south, it's almost like speaking a second language if you ask for 'hot' tea as 'sweet' tea is the norm. So, I began bringing my own teas everywhere I went, then I started to discover kindred spirits who also enjoyed good tea. Sunshine Cottage came into being to share the joy of a good cup of tea, with others, who like myself, don't want to settle for a lousy cup of tea when we travel or go out.
Over the years (almost 30) I have found the most wonderful tea suppliers, learned how to create my own blends and become a reliable source for delicious, loose leaf tea. Eventually I added a nice selection of tea strainers, tea balls and DIY tea bags to make loose leaf tea drinking more convenient and my business has continued to grow.
